Scholarships

During the Woman’s Club Annual Meeting May 2018, we were pleased to award four $1,000 scholarships to the four young women shown above who were selected after filling out extensive applications and review by the scholarship committee. We had a wonderful group of applicants and wish we could have honored them all.

Our scholarships are funded through donations most of which are received during our annual St. Paddy’s Day Party. At our St. Paddy’s Day event this year we raised a little more than $2,000, enough to fund two scholarships. We are grateful to those who contributed to help two girls each receive $1,000 scholarship awards. However, we always find the need to be greater than two, and would love to offer two more scholarships to make a total of four girls receiving assistance this year.

OUR CHALLENGE TO YOU — If you were unable to attend our event, you can still make a donation online — any amount would be appreciated!  Please help us match the amount we already raised by raising $2,000 more!  We will report back on this fundraising and let you know how it goes. Every dollar goes to help deserving girls secure their dream of higher education. Note: scholarship on the PayPal form.

The Scholarship Award is central to the Woman’s Club of Concord’s mission to empower women. Girls who are chosen for the award have a rigorous application process.  Consideration is given to academic achievement, community service, financial need, interest in women’s issues, and leadership. We have been honoring high school girls with these scholarships since the early 1900s.

Interested applicants may download the WCCScholarshipApplication from this site. Information can also be obtained from the guidance departments at Concord,  Bishop Brady and Merrimack Valley High Schools. Applications are due April 1.

Scholarship Certificates are presented at the Woman’s Club Annual Meeting in early May and the winners are introduced to Club members. The Woman’s Club sends notification of the award to the recipient’s high school and to the Concord Monitor.

After completing her fall semester, the recipient briefs the Woman’s Club Scholarship Committee on her accomplishments for the term and includes a copy of her transcript. Once this report has been received, the Woman’s Club sends $1,000 directly to the recipient’s school to be applied to her second-semester tuition.
