Scholarships

During the Woman’s Club (online) Annual Meeting in May 2021, we were pleased to award $2,000 in individual scholarships. The young women (shown above) were selected after filling out extensive applications and review by the scholarship committee. We delivered their flowers and scholarship honors to their homes, as COVID prevented us from gathering in person for the Annual Meeting where scholarship winners are celebrated.  Scholarships are open to girls from Concord High School and Merrimack Valley High School.

Due to COVID, we again are unable to hold our annual St. Patrick’s Day fundraiser — for the third time. Until COVID,  our scholarships had always been funded through donations, most of which are received during our annual St. Paddy’s Day Party.  We are very grateful to those who have continued to contribute to the Scholarship Program for the past three years despite our inability to gather for a fun party and auction.

OUR CHALLENGE TO YOU — You may still make a donation online — any amount would be appreciated!  This is an ongoing fundraiser awarded every May.  Every dollar goes to help deserving girls secure their dream of higher education. Note: scholarship on the PayPal form.

The Scholarship Award is central to the Woman’s Club of Concord’s mission to empower women. Girls who are chosen for the award have a rigorous application process.  Consideration is given to academic achievement, community service, financial need, interest in women’s issues, and leadership. We have been honoring high school girls with these scholarships since the early 1900s.

Interested applicants may download the WCCScholarshipApplication from this site. Information can also be obtained from the guidance departments at Concord High School and Merrimack Valley High Schools. Applications are due April 1.

Scholarship Certificates are presented at the Woman’s Club Annual Meeting in May and the winners are introduced to Club members. The Woman’s Club sends notification of the award to the recipient’s high school and to the Concord Monitor. Our annual meeting this year with the Award presentations will be Friday, May 20 at Chamberlin House. All members are invited to attend and honor the recipients of the 2022 scholarship program.

After completing her fall semester, the recipient briefs the Woman’s Club Scholarship Committee on her accomplishments for the term and includes a copy of her transcript. Once this report has been received, the Woman’s Club sends her monetary award directly to her school to be applied to her second-semester tuition.
